Recirculate Clean Air In many installations, such as buffing and polishing, metal finishing and grinding foundry operations etc., it is possible to recirculate clean, contaminant-free air back to the work area. This reduces the cost of plant ventilation systems and climate control needs. Proven High Efficiency Monroe Dual Throat Air Scubbers are currently operating continuously at high efficiency in many types of industrial installations throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Cartridge cleaningis accomplished by reverse compressed air pulses through a few cartridges at a time, allowing continuous operation without shut-down. These reverse pulses, with a velocity of twice the speed of sound, break away caked dust from the cartridge so that it can drop the collector bottom. Because of slower internal velocities through the collector, media replacement and maintenance labor costs are reduced. Collected oil mist and solids are continuously drained from the media without shut-down, significantly prolonging filter life and lowering overall operating costs. The Monroe Fiber Bed Mist Collector removesparticles as fine as 0.3 micron. While normal filters permit these particles to re-entrain into the outgoing clean air, Monroe''s self-draining filter is designed to prevent oil re-entrainment and recirculate clean air to the atmosphere.

System Design The Monroe Spiral Tube Oil Mist Collector is a two stage unit and does not require filter media for primary mist removal. The spiral tubes provide a high level of mist agglomeration and removal without using filters. Centrifugal force and impaction provide the mechanism for mist removal. Dirty air is propelled down several spiral shaped impaction tubes and a fluid film is created. The oil drains into the collector bottom. Air changes direction 180 degrees, then enters the second stage HEPA type filter typically rated at a minimum 95% efficiency at 0.3 micron particle size. Ideally suited for production machining operations with water soluble, synthetic or mineral coolants. Oil Re-entrainment Eliminated Due to the unique internal design of the Monroe collector, the cleaned air will not re-entrain collected pollutants after the primary stage. This improves the efficiency of the separation process and extends the life of the optional final filters. Independent laboratory tests have shown that many of these units are removing various types of airborne pariculate at efficiencies up to 99.9%, even on heavy particulate loads. A High Volume Water Injector The Monroe Dual Throat Air Scrubber utilizes a high volume wash water injector system that removes airborne particulate by delivering an initial surface inpingement shock to heavy inlet dirt loads. Dual Adjustable Scrubbing Throats High velocity atomization takes place as the inlet air is directed through the fixed and dual adjustable scrubbing throats. The easily adjustable dual throats balance the pressure drop through the air flow system at the start-up or after system changes are made. This design feature eliminates the need for ductwork dampers and blast gates that are prone to particulate build-up and require periodic maintenance. In addition, the increase in pressure drop in the wash zone improves the overall effciency of the system. After passing through the turbulent dual throat wash zone, the air inpinges on the liquid surface, changes direction and then continues through deflectors and to a large, double row moisture eliminator section. Water droplets in the airstream are removed and drain back to the wash liquid reservoir tank. The clean, dry air is then recirculated to the work area or discharged through exhaust ducts.
